Iran, with its high solar radiation potential and the growing energy demand of the agricultural sector for irrigation, possesses a significant capacity for the development of solar power plants. This approach can contribute to the sustainable and efficient supply of electricity for agricultural water wells while reducing dependence on the national grid. The main objective of this study is to present a comprehensive framework for the planning, financial analysis, modeling, and techno-economic evaluation of solar power plants in Iran, with a particular focus on their application in the agricultural sector. This framework is designed to optimize the use of solar energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, enhance energy security, and facilitate energy self-sufficiency in this field. The paper examines the technical and economic capacities for the development of solar power plants and conducts a financial analysis of projects by considering benefits such as reduced energy costs, the possibility of selling surplus electricity to the grid, and rapid capital recovery. Furthermore, the modeling and techno-economic assessment of these plants in high solar potential regions are evaluated. The results indicate that constructing solar power plants in these areas—especially for agricultural use—is economically and technically feasible. These plants ensure a stable electricity supply for irrigation wells during peak-demand seasons and guarantee short-term investment returns through the sale of surplus electricity.
